This Privacy Policy explains how Insider Hosting ("Insider Hosting," "we," "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit insiderhosting.com and its subdomains (the "Site"), create an account, or use our web hosting, reseller hosting, dedicated server, domain registration and related services (the "Services"). This Privacy Policy is part of, and should be read together with, our Terms of Service.
1. Information We Collect#
Information you provide to us#
When you order Services, create or manage an account, or contact us, we collect the information you choose to provide, which may include:
- Contact and account information, such as your name, company name, email address, telephone number, mailing and billing address, and account login credentials.
- Billing and payment information, such as payment card or other payment details, billing history and invoices. Payments are processed through our billing portal and our third-party payment processors.
- Domain registration information, such as the registrant, administrative, technical and billing contact details that domain registries and registrars require.
- Support and communications, such as the contents of support tickets, emails, chats, phone calls and other messages you send us.
Information collected automatically#
When you visit the Site or use the Services, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information, including IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system information, referring and exit pages, pages viewed, dates and times of access, and server, network and security logs. We use this information to operate, secure and improve the Site and Services.
Information from other sources#
We may receive information about you from payment processors (for example, to confirm a payment or flag fraud), domain registries and registrars, and fraud-prevention, security and abuse-reporting services.
2. Content Hosted on Our Services#
Our clients use the Services to host their own websites, applications, email and data ("Client Content"), which may include personal information about their own visitors and customers. Insider Hosting stores and processes Client Content only as needed to provide the Services, as described in our Terms of Service. Each client is responsible for its own website, for its own privacy practices, and for providing any notices to and obtaining any consents from its visitors. If you are a visitor to a website hosted with us and have questions about how that website handles your information, please contact the website’s owner directly.
3. How We Use Information#
We use the information we collect to:
- provide, set up, operate, maintain and support the Services and your account;
- process orders, payments, renewals and refunds, and send invoices and account notices;
- register and manage domain names on your behalf;
- respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Services;
- monitor, secure and protect our network, servers, clients and the public, including detecting and preventing fraud, spam, abuse, DDoS attacks and other harmful activity;
- enforce our Terms of Service and other policies, and investigate reports of misuse;
- analyze and improve the Site and Services;
- send you information about our Services, where permitted by law (you may opt out of marketing messages at any time); and
- comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
4. How We Share Information#
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share personal information only as described below:
- Service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing, fraud prevention, website security and performance (including content delivery and DDoS protection), email delivery, and data storage. These providers may use personal information only to provide services to us.
- Domain registries and registrars. When you register a domain, the registrant and contact information required by the applicable registry, registrar and ICANN policies is provided to them, and some of it may be published in public registration (WHOIS/RDAP) databases as required by those policies.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that it is required by law, subpoena, court order or other legal process; to respond to valid copyright notices under our DMCA policy; or to protect the rights, property or safety of Insider Hosting, our clients or others.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of all or part of our business or assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.
- With your consent or at your direction.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies#
The Site, our billing portal and our support portal use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, maintain your shopping cart, and protect the Site and your account. We and our service providers may also collect limited usage and performance information to understand how the Site is used and to keep it fast and secure. You can set your browser to refuse or delete cookies, but parts of the Site, including the billing and support portals, may not work properly without them.
Do Not Track#
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" setting. Because there is no common industry standard for how to respond to these signals, the Site does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. We do not allow third parties to collect information about your online activities across other websites over time through the Site for advertising purposes.
6. Data Retention#
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, and afterward for as long as reasonably necessary to comply with legal, tax and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our agreements. Archival copies of hosted websites are retained after cancellation only as described in our Terms of Service.
7. Security#
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including access controls, encrypted connections for our Site and portals, network monitoring, DDoS protection, video surveillance and on-site staff at our datacenter. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for securing your own websites, applications and data, including keeping your own backups as described in our Terms of Service.
8. Your Choices#
- Account information. You can review and update your account and contact information at any time in the billing portal.
- Marketing messages. You can opt out of marketing emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in the message or by contacting us. We will still send you transactional and account-related messages, such as invoices, renewal notices and service alerts.
- Cookies. You can manage cookies through your browser settings, as described above.
9. California Privacy Rights#
Insider Hosting is based in California. If you are a California resident, you have the following rights:
California Consumer Privacy Act#
To the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the "CCPA"), applies to us, California residents have the right to: know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about them, the sources of that information, the purposes for which we use it, and the categories of third parties to whom we disclose it; request deletion of their personal information, subject to certain exceptions; request correction of inaccurate personal information; opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (as stated above, we do not sell or share personal information); limit the use of sensitive personal information (we use it only for purposes permitted by the CCPA); and not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
The categories of personal information we collect are described in Section 1, the sources in Section 1, the purposes in Section 3, and the categories of recipients in Section 4. To exercise these rights, contact us as described in Section 13. We will need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request, generally by matching information you provide with the information in your account. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we may require proof of the agent’s authority and verification of your identity.
"Shine the Light"#
California Civil Code Section 1798.83 allows California residents to request information about the personal information a business has disclosed to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
10. Children’s Privacy#
The Services are intended for businesses and adults and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Where Information Is Processed#
Insider Hosting operates in the United States, and our servers are located in our datacenter in Los Angeles, California. Information you provide is processed and stored in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy#
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date below. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice where appropriate, such as by email or a notice in the billing portal. Your continued use of the Site or Services after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
